Britons smoke and drink more

People in Britain are smoking more, drinking more and gambling more, according to the annual report of the Customs and Excise Department.
Customs duties netted nearly £2500m in the 12 months to March 31, as Britons smoked their way through nearly 237 million lb of cigarettes and tobacco, and drank more than 64 million gallons of wine, 24 million gallons of spirits, and 36 million barrels of beer.
