Laver beat the young J. Hrebec, of Czechoslovakia, in the decisive third rubber of the Cup semi-final yesterday. Laver won 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 4-6, 64. This gave Australia an unbeatable 3-1 lead in the series of five matches, and J. Newcombe finishing off the final rubber with a victory over J. Kodes, 6-2, 6-2, 6-4. After the first two singles had been shared on Friday. Australia struck the vital blow on Saturday when Laver and K. Rosewall beat Kodes and K. Zednik, 6-4, 4-12, 7-9, 8-6.
