(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 15. The appointment of a new high commissioner in Singapore was announced today by the Prime Minister (Mr Kirk). He is Mr R. E. B. Peren, a career officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He will replace Mr H. H. Francis early next year. Mr Peren, aged 48, has had wide experience in the foreign service, especially in Asia. For the last two years and a half he has been head of the Ministry’s South Pacific and Antarctic Affairs division. Mr Kirk emphasised the importance the Government attached to New Zealand’s relationship with Singapore.
