Winstone profit rose 18.5 p.c.

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 15. The group net profit of Winstone, Ltd, rose about $500,000 or 18.5 per cent to about $2.7m in the six months to September 30, compared with the corresponding 1972 period, the directors say in the halfyearly report.

An interim dividend of 5) per cent will be paid. This is in line with the forecast annual rate of 11 per cent after the one-for-two bonus issue. Sales rose to s4Bm and the sales content increased 37 per cent to more than s2m. “Irrespective of present attitudes and actions towards controls of profit, a virile, well managed organisation, which -is financially stable and aware of its responsibilities towards its shareholders, employees and the community as a whole, can look to the future with confidence,” says the chairman (Mr A. H. Winstone) in the report.
