MISQUOTED SHAH

The Iranian Embassy in Rome said today that the Milanese magazine, “L’Europeo,” wrongly quoted the Shah of Iran as saying that petroleum prices might go up by as much as 10 times, in an interview with an Italian journalist, Mr Oriana Fallaci. In fact, he said “it is possible that in future the price of every barrel of oil may reach 10 dollars,” an Embassy spokesman said. He said the magazine’s mistaken version of the remark might have been caused by an interpreter’s error.
