Taxis for Games
Christchurch taxi firms are expected to apply soon for licences to run about 20 extra vehicles as taxis during the period of the Commonwealth Games. The vehicles will be operated by holders of existing taxi licences, and will probably be on the road between early December and the end of February. The Taxi Proprietors’ Federation is also expected to seek approval for a list of fixed taxi hire charges for runs between the city centre and specific Games venues, plus multiple hiring rights, so that full loads of passengers can be carried.
