Decrease in stoppages
(N.Z. Pres« Association) WELLINGTON. Industrial stoppages last month were the lowest for any October in recent years, said the Minister of Labour (Mr Watt) in Parliament on Tuesday. There were nine stoppages during the month compared with 11 in October, 1972, and 13 in October, 1971, he said in reply to a question from Mr D. A. Highet (Nat., Remuera). The number of workers involved was 595, the lowest in any October for many years, Mr Watt said. The Government was getting far greater co-operation from the trade union movement than had been received in recent years.
