Schoolboy cricket
Two Canterbury schoolboy cricket teams will play in a mini-tournament involving Buller, North Canterbury, South Canterbury, and Mid-Canterbury at the Cathedral Grammar grounds on November 17. It will give the young players practice for the South Island tournament to be held at Alexandra from January 14 to The Canterbury team will be chosen shortly after the trial matches. The teams for Saturday are:— Canterbury A: B. Nicholson (Burnside-West, captain). D. Kerr (St Albans). M. Williams (EastShirley), D. Barlow (St Albans), J. White (Burnside-West), M. Vannoort (Middleton Grange), J. Cunningham (Cathedral Grammar), D. Burt (Riccarton), A. Piper (Burnside-West), B. Cooper (Hornbv), A. Albertson (EastShirley), D. Boyle (BurnsideWest). Canterbury B: M. Harris (EastShirley, captain), P. Davies (Beckenham), G. AndreU (EastShirlev), I. Hobbs (St Albans), P. Howarth (Riccarton), J. McGregor (East-Shirley), M. Cauthbrn (St Thomas), P. Visser (Middleton Grange), P. Case (Harewood), M. McGowan (Hornby), N. Boyle (Lancaster Park), A. Dobson (Lancaster Park). ■
