Invitation to public

Coates, S. when the commission opened its Christchurch hearings yesterday. “We want to hear from as many people as possible, and our task will be greatly facilitated if people tell us what they feel and, particularly, what they know,” he said. “One of the main tasks of this commission is to try to find out the trends, attitudes, and feelings of people, and unless we have these views, the commission’s job is made more difficult,” the chairman said. Those wishing to make submissions should get in touch with the secretary (Mr T. G. Robinson). Private submissions would be considered and arrangements could also be made for special submissions to be heard at short notice. The other members of the commission are Mesdames E. J. Harper and M. R. Nolan, and Mr J. Mathison. Hearings, which are in the Provincial Council Chamber, are expected to continue until Friday. I
