Two drivers fined

J. W. Smolensk!, the driver of Arapaho, and J. A. Carmichael, the driver of Globe Bay, in the New Zealand Free-for-all at Addington Raceway last Friday were fined $BO and $4O respectively after an inquiry, which was completed last evening at Addington Raceway. The inquiry was held into an incident involving the two horses with about 1300 m to run. After viewing the film and hearing the drivers concerned it was decided to fine them for “doing any matter or thing which interferes or is likely to interfere with the progress of any other horse.” The breaking of the hot favourite, Koarakau, at the straight entrance in the Australasian Handicap last evening was the subject of an inquiry. After hearing evidence from M Holmes, the driver of King’s Row, and B G. Nyhan, the driver of Koarakau. and viewing the film it was found that as Koarakau came out inside King’s Row he touched a sulky wheel and broke. No blame was attachable to M. Holmes and no further action was taken
