Publication dispute

(N.Z.P.A. -Reuter— Copyright) NEW YORK, Nov. 10. Groucho Marx went to court yesterday to stop publication of “the Marx Brothers Scrapbook,” which he said so shocked him he became ill. The comedian, aged 83, said the book, without his approval, included his comments on people’s sex habits, his evaluation of directors, producers and performers, and the drinking habits of his wives. All he agreed to was to have informal talks with the writer, Mr Richard Anobile, from which Mr Anobile was to write the story of the Marx Brothers’ careers, Groucho Marx said. Instead, he said, Mr Anobile used the conversational material for “attempted character assassination against me and to bring disrepute to the careers of my brothers and myself."

The Supreme Court judge issued a temporary restraining order, and set November 13 to hear the defendants.
