Gift from Group

The Robert McDougall Art Gallery will gain a painting for its permanent collection as a result of the retrospective exhibition of David Graham’s works held recently. One of the paintings has been bought by the Christchurch Group and presented to the gallery — the second such gesture made by the Group, which earlier gave a large donation towards the purchase of a sculpture by Marte Szirmay. However, it will be some months before the gallery can add the painting to its permanent display. The exhibition, which commemorates the late David Graham, the 1966 Hay Prize winner, is being prepared for a tour of other New Zealand centres early next year.
