The House decided by 45 votes to 27 to take urgency on the committee stage of the Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill. The Select Committee to examine the New Zealand Superannuation Corporation Bill was named. The Leader of the Opposition* (Mr Marshall) gave notice of motion calling for a Royal Commission on the subject. The Minister of Customs (Mr Connelly) presented a petition from Mrs J. H. Lennon (Christchurch) seeking payment of family benefit.
