CASHMERE CLUB
Start likely soon
Construction of the $300,000 Cashmere Club on a 4 j-acre site in Colombo Street south is expected to start within a month. This was announced yesterday by the club’s president (Mr N. J. Davison), who said that drawings were now being completed and that tenders would probably be called in about three weeks. The club will be open to both men and women, and has been granted a chartered club liquor licence, subject to the buildings being approved. Building is expected to take about nine months. The club already has a membership of 1400, and it is restricted to 1500 members by the terms of its charter. Initially, the club will provide facilities for badminton, indoor bowls, social functions, and a sauna room.
