Storm warning at Mt Cook
(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, Sept. 2. Three climbers, the last of a party of 10 who ascended the south face of Douglas Peak (10,107 ft last week, came down to Mount Cook National Park headquarters today ahead of a predicted storm.
The trio had been at the Pioneer Hut, beneath the peaks Alack (9300 ft and Douglas, on the West Coast side of the Main Divide. A spokesman for Mount Cook National Park headquarters said that the weather was threatening, and a storm warning had been received. There were now no climbers in the high-altituda huts in the region, he said.
