DANNEVIRKE. The North Island women’s smallbore rifle team beat the South Island by 23 points on Saturday. The North Island team, which recorded 3963.306 points, shot at Dannevirke. and the South Island (3940.370) at Dunedin.

It is the ninth time the North Island has won the Craigs Challenge Shield for the competition since its presentation in 1955. The best card of the day was shot by H. Gallatley, No. 16 for the South Island. Her two-card aggregate was 200.19. Seven, shooters recorded double-possibles. The top scores were:

Gallatley 200.19, C. Divan (South) 200.18, E. Hounsell (North) 200.17, and M. Pawson (North) 200.17, E. Wray (North) 200.16, G. Andrew (South) and B. McKee (South) 200.15.
