Oceania boxing titles to New Zealanders

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) NOUMEA. Two New Zealanders, L. Revill (Auckland) and R. Jackson (Wellington) won titles in the Third Oceania Boxing Championships, which ended in Noumea on Saturday night after a week of preliminary bouts.

A third New Zealander, W. Karaitiana (Wairarapa) was a finalist in his division, the bantam-weight. Karaitiana, a southpaw, is only 17 and was the youngest member of the six-man New Zealand team. Results of finals:

Light fly-weight. — Tonghiva (Tahiti) beat Kainteng (New Guinea), knocked out. second round.

Fly-weight: J. Slatter (Victoria) beat Williams (N.S.W.). on points.

Bantam-weight. — Mulholland (N.S.W.) beat Karaitiana, on points. Feather-weight.-—O’Brien (West Australia) beat P. Slatter (Victoria), on points.

Light-weight.—Apeang (Tahiti) beat Johnson (Queensland), on points. Light welter-weight. — Hmae (New Calgtionia) beat Chamberlain (Victoria), on points.

Welter-weight.—Jackson beat Tufele (New- Caledonia), on points. Light middle-weight.—Revill beat Murray (West Australia), knockout, third round. Middle-weight—Nebayes (New Caledonia) beat Puke (Queens, land), knock out, second round.

Light heavy-weight. — Aczel (Victoria) beat Mears (South Australia), knock out, second round.

Heavy-weight. — Kaofa (New Caledonia) beat Chamberlain (N.S.W.I on points. The fourth Oceania championships will be held in Sydney next year.
