DEBUT IN LEAGUE
Reward for Millward The sturdy Papanui frontrow prop, F. S. Millward, will make his debut in first-class Rugby League for Canterbury against West Coast at Greymouth tomorrow. Millward won selection ahead of the reserve forward, M. Fuller (Kaiapoi), and his Papanui club-mate, K. G. Wakelin—who was a replacement in the first fixture with West Coast earlier this month —as the substitute for the injured J. Greengrass (Linwood). To include Millw’ard, the selectors (Messrs H. J. Walker and A. O’Donnell) transferred A. P. Rushton (Christ-church-Eastern Suburbs) back to Greengrass’s second-row position. Millward will partner M. H. Mohi (Marist-West-ern Suburbs) and D. P. Brown; (Kaiapoi) in the front row. I An outstanding performance fdr Papanui against Eastern last Saturday clinched promotion for Millward. Aged 23 and weighing about 14st, he represented Canterbury B against Otago at Dunedin earlier this season.
Rugby.— The President’s XV to play the All Blacks in Wellington on August 4 will be selected by the N.Z.R.U. president, Mr L. A. Byars, and Mr I. M. H. Vodanovich.
