The. Ministry operates a maximum security quarantine station on the Island and has a permanent resident staff of seven. Duties would include such things as building maintenance, painting, fencing, vehicle servicing and some tractor driving. Experience in plumbing and welding would also be an advantage. Salary payable up to $3137 p.a. depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to salary a special remote allowance of $l5O p.a. is paid to all Somes Island staff. The successful applicant will be provided with rent free, furnished accommodation and in addition will receive free electricity, milk and telephone. The Ministry has its own launch providing transport to and from the mainland.
