Twizel jobs offer

(N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The 120 workers who would become redundant when the Te Anau power project ended would be offered jobs at Twizel, said the president of the Federation of Labour (Mr T. E. Skinner). He was speaking after a meeting between the Minister of Labour (Mr Watt), the F.O.L. executive, and representatives of the Te Anau combined unions. Mr Skinner said the men were satisfied with assurance given by Mr Watt. The F.O.L. i would now negotiate with the Ministry of Works the terms of transfer for the men who 'become redundant. The Twizel project was capable of absorbing the 120, and the F.O.L. hoped that the .men could be laid off in 'Stages, said Mr Skinner.
