School zone boundaries

The boundaries for the school districts for 1974 secondary school enrolments announced by the Minister of Education (Mr Amos) are:— Aranul The Spit to Keighleys Road, north by McGregors Road, Cypress Street and Kearneys Road to Pages Road, then via Cuffs Road to line of the Avon River as far as New Brighton Road, along New Brighton Road to Barkers Road then directly north, west of Barkers and Frosts Road, through the intersection of Inwoods and Mairehau Roads. Linwood From the Spit to Keighleys Road, north by McGregors Road, Cypress Street and Kearneys ' Road to Pages Road—south side lof Woodham Road to England ' Street to Tuam Street as far as i Fitzgerald Avenue, then south : along Fitzgerald Avenue'to the I Lyttelton Railway, along the i railway line to Ensors Road, Ensors Road to Fifield Terrace along the terrace and river to Port Hills Road then east to north of Laing Crescent and Martindale Road as far as Mt Pleasant Road, including Sumner and Redeliffs but excluding Heathcote Valley. The area bounded by Woodham Road, Avonside Drive, Stanmore Road, Tuam Street, and England Street is a double area shared by both Linwood and Shirlev Boys IllghAvonside Girls High. The area within Linwood’s zone bounded by Buckleys Road, Aidwins Road, Ferry Road is shared by Avonside Girls High as well. Mairehau A line east of Grimseys Road and directly south to the junction of McFaddens Road and Cranford Street, along Cranford Street to Westminster Street, Aylesford Street as far as Crosby Street, then east through Ailsa and Praem Place to Emmett Street Hammersley Avenue, thence east to the intersection of Broomfield Terrace and Horseshoe Lake Road, the boundary continuing just inside the contour of Lake Terrace Road to New Brighton Road to Barkers Road, west along Travis Road to Frosts Road. Mairehau Road to Inwoods Road and along Inwoods Road. In addition, an area bounded by Cranford Street to Berwick Street, Warrington Street. Shirley Road, Horseshoe Lake Road is shared by both Mairehau and Shirley Bovs High School and Avonside Girls High. Papanui

All Belfast district excluded (these pupils will be transported free of cost to Kaiapol High School). The eastern boundary is a line along the east side of Grimsevs Road to the junction of McFaddens Road and Cranford Street, along the south side of Mavs Road. Normans Road. Westholme Street, Condell Avenue, Kilburn Street, Isleworth Road. Hockey Street and a

line directly north but west of Trafford Street. Harewood School district is excluded from the area. The area within this zone bounded by Papanui Road and Blighs Road is a double area shared by both Papanui and Christchurch Boys and Girls High. Burnside The western boundary is a line west of Russley Road, down Russley Road to a point opposite Merrill Street (where Waimairi Stream crosses the road) down the west side of Withells Road to the line of the Ham Stream; directly east to Clyde Road, where the Okeover stream crosses the road, north of Tintern Street, north along Clyde Road to Fendalton Road, east along the south side of Fendalton Road to the North railway line, north along the railway line to Westholme, Condell, Kilburn, Isleworth. Hockey Streets and a direct line north on the west side of Trafford Street. This includes the Harewood School district. The area within this zone bounded by the Waimairi Road, Greers Road, Wairakei Road. .lighs Road, is a double area shared by both Burnside and Christchurch Boys High School and the area bounded by Ham Road, Aorangi Road, Wairakei Road, Blighs Road, is shared by both Burnside and Christchurch Boys and Girls High School.

A direct line from Russley Road opposite Ryans Road, along Ham Stream and Okeover Stream to Clyde Road, south along the east side of Clyde and Wharenui Roads to Blenheim Road, a line parallel with Lunns and Wilmers Roads to the junction of Springs and Wilmers Roads, along Halswell Junction Road to the junction of Foreman’s and the Main South Roads, north to Roberts Road and then north-east to the junction of Russley and Yaldhurst Roads, then along the west side of Russley Road to Ryans Road. The area within .this zone bounded by Hansons Lane and Waimairi Road is a double area shared by both Riccarton and Christchurch Boys’ High School and the area bounded by Middleton Road and Ham Road is a double area shared by both Riccarton and Christchurch Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools. Hillmorton Barrington Street, Franklelgh Street, south side of Sparks Road, all Halswell and along Halswell Junction Road to Middle Lincoln Road, a line along the south side of Middle Lincoln Road to the Main South railway, and a line direct from the Matipo Street railway crossing to Barrington Street. Cashmere From the junction of Frankleigh and Barrington Streets, along Frankleigh Street and the south side of Sparks Road to the city boundary at the end of Northaw Street. A direct line south along the city boundary

to Worsley’s Road, along the line of the hills and Dyers Pass Road then north-east to the city boundary in Rapakl Road, along the city boundary and past Glenelg Spur to Port Hills Road, and then following the Heathcote River in its curve around Riverlaw Terrace, down Waltham Road, along Austin, Ingold and Huxley Streets, then south through Penrith Avenue to Barrington Street. Hagley A line through Tuam Street from Fitzgerald Avenue along Blenheim Road to Matipo Street, Matipo Street railway crossing to Barrington Street, along the north side of Barrington Street to opposite Roker Street, through McCombs Street and Penrith Avenue Huxley. Ingold, and Austin Streets, along Waltham Road to Fifield Terrace to Ensors Road, north along Ensors Road to the railway to Falsgrave Street and Fitzgerald Avenue to Tuam Street. Christchurch Girls' High ! A line through the junction of Tuam Street and Colombo Street through Blenheim Road to Middleton Road, north along the east side of Middleton Road, west side of Bam Road to Wairakei Road, along Wairakei Road to Blighs Road, to Papanui Road, south along Papanui Road to Mays Road along east side of Mays Road McFaddens Road to Cranford Street. Along west side of Cranford Street to Edgeware Road, south along Colombo Street to Tuam Street. Avonside Girls' High North along east side of Ci.ombo Street (from junction of Tuam and Colombo Street) to Edgeware Road, along east side of Cranford Street to Westminster Street along Aylesford Street to Crc.my Street, a line directly east to the junction of Emmett and Orontes streets, along Emmett Street to Orion Street, along Hammersley Avenue to Maishlands Road and continuing directly east to Horseshoe Lake Road—Brc.rmfield Terrace intersection—along the contour of Horseshoe Lake Road and Lake Terrace Road to NewBrighton Road, south along Locksley Avenue to Avonside Drive, along Pages Road to Buckleys Road. Aidwins Road to Ferry Road to Fitzgerald Avenue to Tuam Street, Colombo Street. The area within this zone bounded by Tuam Street.) England Street and Woodham Rc.id is a double area shared by| both Avonside and Linwood, while to the north the area] bounded by Warrington Street, Shirley Road and Horseshoe Lake Road is shared with Mairehau High School. Shirley Boys' High North along east side c.f Colombo Street (from junction of Tuam and Colombo Streets) to Edgeware Road, along east side of Cranford Street to Westminster Street alGng Aylesford Street to Crosby Street, a line directly east to the junction of Emmett and Orontes streets, along Emmett Street to Orion Street, along Hammersley Avenue to Marshlands Road and continuing directly east to the Horseshoe Lake Road, Brromfield Terrace intersection. Along the contours of Horseshoe Lake Road and Lake Terrace Road to New Brighton Road, south along Lc.iksley Avenue to Avonside Drive and across to Cuffs Road, along Cuffs Road to Pages Road, along Pages Road to Woodham Road, down the north side of Woc.iham Road to Stanmore Road, south along the west side of Stanmore Road to Tuam Street, west along Tuam Street to Colombo Street. The area in the south within this zone bounded by Stanmore Rr.id, Avonside Drive and Woodham Road is a double area shared with Linwood High School, while the area in the north bounded by Warrington Street, Shirley Road and Horseshoe Lake Rend is shared with High School.
