Origin should win at Manawatu
‘■The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. Origin is a tough versatile little gelding and these qualities should help him carry the day when he contests the Manawatu Winter Handicap, first leg of the T.A.B. double at Awapuni tomorrow. Origin has been up for quite a while this season but this does not seem to detract from his ability, as evidenced by his courageous win at Wanganui on Queen’s Birthday. On the first day of the Wanganui fixture he was with the leaders but could
not come on in the final stages and finished eighth in the Duncan Cup. Last week’s winner. Guardian, was so impressive in the shocking conditions that he must rate a big chance. He made the pace and had only one challenger, Skoota. when they were in r the straight but he shook t Skoota off to win by three t lengths. Although that was his first > win since Hawke’s Bay last s December he was a close second to Follow Us at Mars ton on May 2 and if he runs » up to last week’s effort he 1 must go close again
