Khanji at peak

“The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Khan.ji was the most impressive trialist at Awapuni yesterday morning in final gallops for the Manawatu meeting. Khan.ji is engaged in the Suburban Intermediate and she finished so well on the first day that she looks a definite prospect again. Work on the course proper was performed in heavy ground. Khan.ji went half a mile in 56 3-ssec, the final three furlongs in 42 3-ssec. She worked freely and seems vastly improved. Al wick, a visitor from Wairoa, ran the best three furlongs when easily beating Tricky Boy in 38 3-ssec. Alwick faded from the turn last week but his work yesterday was pleasing. Welilneas and Bagheera were in front of Coney Island at the end of five furlongs in Imin 13 2-ssec, the last three in 43 2 ssec. Wellineas has thrived and might win again, while Bagheera has taken no harm from his Ellerslie falls.
