Aqualette in fine jumping display

A dashing display over four hurdles by Aqualette was the feature of a quiet morning’s training at Riccarton yesterday. Aqualette, which is to race at Oamaru tomorrow, finished clear of Law Court after maintaining a strong pace throughout. Law Court’s jumping was consistently good — it earned a qualifying ticket — but Aqualette pulled away quickly on the flat after the third flight. N. Cowles, who rode Aqualette in her schooling run, earlier had the mount on Wigs in a solo 800 metres trial on the No. 1 grass. The two-year-old recorded 51 3-5. Power, a stablemate of Aqualette, and M. J. Skelton’s mount in the Champion Hack Handicap at Oamaru, was given two runs over the pony hurdles by G. Jackson. He was almost in trouble when

he slipped on the approach to one of them, but managed to stay on his feet. The Riccarton trainer, G. D. Lee, said yesterday that - Kashmir and Queen’s Request * (Elderslie Hack) and Foxfun (Trial Stakes) would not race ! at Oamaru, but he would have Elvin Spark there for the > hurdles, The Searcher for the I Champion Hack, and Solved : for the Kakanui Hack.
