CN.7.. Press Association) WELLINGTON. June 14. Manawatu Knitting Mills, Ltd, reports that, for the seven months to May 19, both turnover and production showed an increase over the corresponding period of last year, but a severe shortage of skilled staff restricted the increase in production. With substantial increases in wages for females now payable, and increasing costs for raw materials, the future results are difficult to forecast, the directors say. However, provided that present tax rates apply, the increased profit rate of 10 per cent should be maintained for the rest of the year, they say. Forward sales ensure that the mil) will run to capacity. An unchanged interim dividend of 2.5 c a share (5 per cent) will be paid on July 12. ex dividend June 25.
