A burn serum

Swiss scientists have discovered an anti-toxic serum which may revolutionise the treatment of extensive burns, says the Swiss scientific journal “Medicine and Health." It said that, the first trials of the serum on people would probably begin this year, at Basle University’s surgical clinic. The discovery was made by chemists working in the clinic under Professor Martin Allgower and Dr G. A. Schone-
berg,, who have been studying the problem for the past 20 years. ■ According to the journal, . when human tissues are burned the moisture contained in the skin is lost and the • body produces a toxin (poi- • son) which is responsible for . the rapidly worsening condition of people suffering from extensive burns. Swiss scientists have identified and isolated this toxin! ’ and produced an anti-toxic! ’ serum to combat it. 1
