No action on petition
Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Parliament was told that ft would be impracticable to restrict the hours of aircraft flying within two miles of towns and cities. Mr G. Christie (Lab., Napier), the chairman of the Petitions Committee, was reporting on a petition from Mr; P. Knight, of Palmerston' North, and 919 others, seeking an amendment to the Civil Aviation Regulations to j control the hours of flying j within two miles of towns’ and cities. The committee made no! recommendation on the pe-i tition. Mr Christie said there was , no evidence of widespread objection to aircraft flying, ! investigations had shown that it was essential for certain aerial agricultural spray- ! ing to be done between dawn! and 9 a.m. while the weather, was suitable. “However, we were assured ! by operators that where pos-| sible they would take into! account the public interests,”' Mr Christie said. !
