B.N.S.W. plans premium issue
The Bank of New South Wales, Ltd, proposes to increase its capital by $22.5m to $107.5m by the issue of 11,250,000 200 c shares at a premium of 150 c a share. The board will recommend to a meeting on June 1 that 10,620,602 of the new shares be offered to shareholders in the proportion of one new share for every four shares and that the balance of 629,398 new shares be offered to the staff of the bank at a similar premium. Under the present economic conditions the directors expect to at least maintain a dividend rate of 12 per cent on the increased capital. The new shares would rank for dividend after September 30.
