Selected issues rise on quiet markets
Prices tended to steady during quiet trading on Australian exchanges yesterday. Falls only slightly outnumbered rises over all, although in the mining and oil section rises predominated. Most moves were small.
which announced a steady half year dividend, touched a low of 900 c but rallied to close at 918 c, 2c higher on Thursday’s closing price. Metals Exploration, on news that Freeport would not be disposing of its interest in the company, saw the price pick up 8c at 133 c. Emperor Gold Mines, which reported a profit jump, likewise moved ahead, rising 20c at 155 c. Woodside Burmah moved up strongly, adding 27c at 335 c. The contributing shares gained 13c at 303 c.
