It is now planned to strengthen these activities considerably by providing strong administrative support and by broadening the University’s range of extramural activities. An Office of Continuing Education is to be established with the primary aim of co-ordinating and developing courses and activities which do not lead to a degree. The Office will provide administrative services for departments undertaking all such courses (including summer schools and residential courses) in all relevant disciplines. Extension courses of more general interest such as Fine Arts programmes and introductory language courses will also be offered, and the Office will sponsor special public lectures and seminars.
