Stark 6827. 3793 THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE OFFICE FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION EXECUTIVE OFFICER For many years the University of Melbourne has been active in the field of Continuing Education through its Extension Committee and has provided a large number of extramural special courses and summer schools developed by a number of departments. It is now planned to strengthen these activities considerably by providing strong administrative support and by broadening the University’s range of extramural activities. An Office of Continuing Education is to be established with the primary aim of co-ordinating and developing courses and activities which do not lead to a degree. The Office will provide administrative services for departments undertaking all such courses (including summer schools and residential courses) in all relevant disciplines. Extension courses of more general interest such as Fine Arts programmes and introductory language courses will also be offered, and the Office will sponsor special public lectures and seminars. The Executive Officer will act as a co-ordinator and I entrepreneur for such courses. The appointee will , preferably have an acdemic background and, since he will be responsible for the effective organisation 1 of these courses, he must have proven administrative ability. > Conditions: A salary of about $11,500 is envisaged.
