Meat shoplifting, grocers report, has been going up as] fast or faster than the climbing meat prices in the United States. “We’ve caught some of them, and most of these people aren’t what you’d call thieves—they’re stealing to feed their families and that’s la damned shame,” said a security guard. Meat prices in Charlotte have increased an average of 49 per cent in the last three months.
