Doubts on Cambodia

The American Deputy Assistant Secretary of State (Mr William Sullivan) has told Thai leaders that although the Americans were confident of an imminent peace in Laos he was less optimistic about a similar agreement in Cambodia, informed sources said. He was reported to have said that the Cambodian situation was rather different from that of Laos, and peace there would depend on further negotiations. The visiting American envoy. who arrived from Hanoi on Friday, met high ranking Thais, including the Prime Minister (Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn) and the Deputy Foreign Minister (Bri-gadier-General Chartichai Chunhawan).
