Easton Light fancied

Easton Light, the winner of three races this season, including the Dominion Handicap at the New Zealand Cup meeting, should win the Vodka Handicap at Hutt Park Raceway tomorrow night. Although Messrs E. W. and T R. Running's good trotter has had to settle for minor placmgs lately his sound run for fifth, from the 30-yard mark, at Alexandra Park Raceway last Saturday week has brought him into strong favour for the first leg of the Wellintgon Trotting Club’s T.A.B. double. Easton Light is not very favourably drawn on the limit but if he gets away reasonably well and avoids bother tn the initial stages his class should carry him through. Two other strong contenders from the north should be Royal Forbes and Heroic. Royal Forbes and Easton Light have had their share of duels this season and, invariably, the former has had to settle for the role of run-: ner-up. However, it was not that way at Auckland last Saturday week when Royal; Forbes, with an 18-vard ad- ? vantage, won the Henderson : Handicap. If Roval Forbes runs up to' that form b**at-':

'ing again. So will Heroic, a last-start winner from the 36-: yard mark at the Manawatu: meeting last Monday week. Now that Philipino has! dropped out of the field the south’s best might be Jason I McCord and Philemon. Jason McCord has gained: five wins, plus numerous! placings. this season, and that is a pretty fair effort by, any standard. Philemon has; ■only won twice but he has been competing against the ■ toughest of opposition alii along and at his latest at-
