Films share TV award

CVZ. Press Association) AUCKLAND, February 19. Two films jointly won the drama and arts section of the Feltex television awards last night- They were “Gone Up North for a While,” the story of an unmarried girl and the birth of her baby, and “An Awful Silence." a science fiction play about beings from outer space who set up Earth headquarters in a New Zealand suburb.

The judges described “Gone Up North for a While” as “a rough-hewn film with a strong impact.” It was produced by the National Film Unit and directed by Paul Maunder.

“An Awful Silence” was a stylish production made by a production team whose members were totally in step with each other, the judges said. The producer was David Stevens.
