DAGON SAILS
55-day stay ends (N.Z. Prexx Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 19. The former Canary Islands squid boat Dagon ended its 55-day stay in Wellington • when it sailed this morning : for Reunion Island, 110 miles ? south-west of Mauritius. The Dagon cast off with - firecrackers exploding on the bridge for luck and members of the Chinese Anglican Mission singing their blessings from the wharf. The vessel arrived in Wellington on December 27 to pick up generator oil, but the failure of finance to i arrive for this, the crew’s pay ; and provisions delayed the , vessel until a few days ago. I The last few days have i been spent in testing the en- ' gines. 1 Three crew members were repatriated to Taiwan, and the Dagon will be handled by - eight men till it reaches Rer union, where it will take on 200 tons of tuna.
