ORDER FOR CARVING
(N.Z. Press Association) TAURANGA. A carved canoe stern-post similar to that of the canoe Te Awanui, which was launched at Tauranga on Saturday, will feature in a free-standing display in the foyer of a new Honolulu | hotel. The manager of the Mauna tKea Beach Hotel (Mrs P. Brownlee) approached the master carver. Tony Tukaokao, after the launching ceremony and ordered the ■ stern-post. It is to be delivered before April 1, for the hotel’s opening. Mrs Brownlee is also inter- . ested in ordering a carved prow and a poupou. a carved meeting house wall-piece. The order could be worth ■s4ooo. *
