2 scullers impress

The two visiting Swiss scpllers had their first training row in New Zealand on Friday as several local scullers looked on at the Auckland Rowing Club’s headquarters on the Tamaki River. Touching off the banks in a borrowed skiff, the two worked impressively.

Rowlands, a national selector and expert on scul-, ling who won a gold medal; in the singles at the 1950] Commonwealth Games, was] particularly happy with what! he saw. “They move beautifully together and are really! ] hooked on,” he said. -“Their ] combination of catch and drive is model.” The Swiss are fast, well groomed and. as he proudly] ] confessed, “they’ll push our] (best to the limits.
