Terminal extension
The use of the Boeing 747 through the Christchurch airport had highlighted the need to proceed promptly with the design of the new; international wing, the airport and traffic committee reported to the Christchurch; City Council last evening. Finance would be placed on the estimates this year! for the initial planning, the committee said, and it was
, hoped that by the time the . domestic terminal extensions were completed the Airwork hangar would be resited and the site would be clear to proceed immediately. Processing of the passengers from the wide-bodied jets had been carried out satisfactorily. with minimal de- 1 . lays, although the terminal was not designed to handle such a large number of people, the committee said. On two occasions the aircraft had not maintained schedule time on arrival and this had caused extra overtime to be j worked by all concerned. 1
