Reception for Vietnamese
The Canterbury Trades Council will be the hosts at a private reception in the Dominion Hotel tomorrow evening to the two North Vietnam trade union officials at present visiting New Zea : land.
The visitors are Mr Vu Dinh, president of the Hanoi Federation of Trade Unions, a member of Parliament and deputy-administrator of the city of Hanoi; and Mr Tran Thanh, deputy-head of the international department of the Vietnam Federation of Trade Unions. An interpreter from Hanoi is accompanying them.
Selected members of Christchurch organisations who opposed the war in Vietnam will be invited to the reception.
The North Vietnamese will call on the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr N. G. Pickering) at 11 a.m. on Thursday. They will leave Christchurch later that day. They will be taken on sight-seeing tours during their stay in the city.
