Suspicious fire
Christchurch detectives are investigating a fire which gutted an unoccupied house in Hornby about 2.15 a.m. yesterday. The cause of the fire has not been established.
The blaze is thought to have started by the back door. The brick house, at 27 Shands Road, had only recently been bought by its owner, Mr W. J. Dunlop, of 12 Otara Street, Fendalton. The house was not furnished. Two cars parked at the back of the property were scorched in the fire and one had its windscreen broken by the heat.
Sockburn and Harewood engines turned out.
