Mixed crew
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) WASHINGTON. The United States Navy’s I male and female crews aboard the U.S.S. Sanctuary are mixing well, United Press International reports. Navy officials said that one pregnant seaman and a love affair between two other : crew members had been re- : ported so far. The officials ■ said that the concept of mixed : crews was working well. The pregnant crew member, ■ not identified, has been re- ; moved from duty on the ship : and the Navy officials stressed ■ the pregnancy occurred before the woman came aboard. As for the love affair, the . Navy said that a female . machinist’s mate third class ■ and a male radioman wanted ■ to be married. I The couple, also unidenti- ■ fied, met aboard the Sanc- . tuary, which is using a mixed 1 crew as a pilot project aimed ■ at expanding the role of s women in the service.
