Farm unity urged
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 18. The first priority in farming today was to restore unity of purpose and voice among farmers, the former Dominion president of Federated Farmers (Mr A. C. Begg) said today in a statement. He said it seemed obvious to him that that an organisation already in the field, in great strength, and working actively over the whole field of farming interest, was the logical choice as the farmers’ spokesman.
Mr Begg intends to retain his membership of Federated Farmers, and will not join the recently-formed Sheep and Cattlemen’s Association. “Farming faces major problems, both within New Zealand and in the marketing of our produce overseas,” Mr Begg said. "A division in the ranks in New Zealand can only weaken the efforts to maintain send advance the interest of farming.”
