Third title to bowler
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. For the third time since 1965, Mrs S. Winstanley, of the Marewa club, Napier, has won the women’s national singles bowls title. In the final yesterday played in perfect condition at Dunedin, Mrs Winstanley beat Mrs M. Hawking, of Lower Hutt, 22-12.
Mrs Winstanley suffered her first loss of the singles tournament when her match against Mrs L. Harris, of Lower Hutt, was decided by a measure on an extra end. The score was 18-17. However, in the semi-final the two were rematched and Mrs Harris was beaten into third place, 18-16.
