Money changes lower prices Lighter pitchings of most commodities met a steady ini quiry on Smithfield market i last week, the Meat Board [reports. Supplies of New i Zealand lamb were generally sufficient for the improving ' demand, though Y grades i were still rather limited. [Values remained firm on reIcent levels. The apparent fall in prices mainly reflects the effective revaluation of the New Zealand dollar against sterling. Quotations for New Zealand lambs were:— Prime.— 281 b and under 39.8-40.9 2.65 291 b to 361 b .. 39.9-40.9 -2.80! Y.—371 b to 421 b 37.7-38.7 -2.00 281 b and under 39.9-40.9 —3.20 291 b to 361 b 40.8 n.a. Cartoned lamb cuts met a slow trade at the following prices:— Legs .. 57.6-59.5 -4.05 Long loins .. 46.5 -2.70 Limited quantities of New Zealand mutton were quoted as follows:— Wethers.— 431 b and under 29.7-30.3 —O.BO Very light supplies of New Zealand ox beef cuts cleared steadily at firmer values:— Topsides . 78.0-79.9 -3.65 Silversides .. 78.0-79.9 —3.65 Thick flanks .. 77.1-78.0 -2.05 Conversion of U.K. pence to N.Z. cents was made at the | rate quoted by the Reserve; Bank on Wednesday, of $1.8585 equals £l.OO.
