STOCK SALE AT TINWALD

There was a larger yarding of prime sheep at last week’s stock sale at Tinwald. The prices were on a par with the previous week for the medium and light lambs, but the heavy lambs were a little easier. Hoggets were also a little easier, with four-tooths on a par. Prices:— Prime heavy lambs.—Best $12.20 to $12.80 with one sale to $l3; good, $lO.BO to $11.80; medium, $lO to $10.80; small, $9 to 59.80. Prime shorn lambs. —Medium. $7.70 to $8.60. Prime woolly hoggets.—Best, to $13.60; good, $12.30 to $12.90: medium, $11.60 to $l2. Prime shorn hoggets.—Best, to $12.40; good, $11.40 to $l2; medium, $ll to $11.80: light, $lO to $10.60. Prime four-tooth ewes and wethers. —Best to $11.50; good, $10.60 to $11.20. Heavy butchers’ ewes.— $9.10' to $10.30; medium, $9.80 to $10.50. Works ewes.—Good, $9.80 to $10.70; medium, $9.20 to $9.70; light, $8.60 to $9. There was a much smaller sale of store sheep. Numbers in all sections were well down. There was quite a large gallery following the sale and with a very good rain on Sunday night farmers had a more confident outlook. Prices were very firm on recent sales and in some cases could be quoted 80 cents to $1 up. Prices:—

Romney ■wether lambs.—Good to $9.10; medium. $7.80 to $8.50. Fine wool wether lambs.— Medium, $7 to $7.80; small, $6.60 to $6.90.

Down cross lambs. —Good. $8 to $8.90; medium, $7 to $7.80; light, from $4.70. Shorn lambs. —Medium. $7 to $7.10; small, $6.30 to 56.80. Romney ewe lambs.—Good to, $10.50; medium. $9.10. Fine wool lambs.—Medium. $7.25: small, $6.60 to $7. Romney Drysdale cross ewe lambs.—Medium, $8; small, $6.60 to $7. Corriedale two-tooth ewes.— Medium, $16.75 to $17.40; light from Sl2 to $14.20. Halfbred and two-tooth ewes.— Medium, $16.70; light from $ll to $l4. Border Merino two-tooth ewes. —517.10. Romney two-year ewes.—Shorn, $lO.BO to $ll. One-year ewes.—slo to $10.40.
