Manager’s agricultural background
The former All Black captain. Mr W. J. Whineray, who has been appointed the first managing director and chief executive of the Wool Marketing Corporation. has a background in agriculture as well as business. . He is assistant general manager and marketing manager of the paper products group of Alex Harvey Industries. Ltd and was formerly a field
officer for the State Ad- I vances Corporation. Mr Whineray, who is 37. was a rural field cadet under a Government scheme, and later completed a valuation and farm man-’ agement course at Lin-1 coin College in 1957. He left the State Advances; Corporation to complete; a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1964. Between 1967 and 1969, he; gained a master’s degree’ in business administration at Harvard University. on a Harkness Fellowship award. Before he joined Alex Harvey Industries, Mr Whineray was assistant to the general manager and marketing manager of Dominion Breweries. Ltd. Mr Whineray captained the All Blacks from 1958 to 1965. and was awarded the 0.8. E. in 1961.
