In Moliere's memory
France yesterday marked (the 300th anniversary of the death of Moliere with a special performance of the play I in which he was taken ill and died while acting the lead. “Le Malade Imaginaire” (“The Imaginary Invalid") was per|formed by the Comedie Francaise, the company which Moliere formed and which is still the leading classical repertory company of France Cardinal Marty today will celebrate a special Mass for Moliere, who died without the last sacrament because seventeenth century priests, hostile to the playwright's attacks on religious hypocrisy, refused to visit him to hear his last confession.—Paris, Feb. 18.
