Mary Quant glasses
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON. Mary Quant, Britain’s successful and versatile designer of goods ranging from cosmetics and women’s fashions to men’s ties, has now turned her attention to women who wear glasses. Her new range of fashion spectacles has just come on the British market. Miss Quant has designed six basic frame shapes for a London firm which makes 2.5 m frames a year and distributes them throughout the world. Not only did Miss Quant design the frames, but she ; also selected the colours and ‘ specified the materials. The light-weight plastic frames , with round, oval and squared-off eye shapes come i in shades such as moon 1 flower, delphinium, orchid, i copper beech, sweet pea and i honeysuckle. | Special attention has been I given to fit, strength of 1
hinges and general finish. The makers admit the frames will thus be fairly expensive. “I have felt for some time that not enough attention has been paid by designers to spectacles, nowadays an allimportant part of many people’s wardrobe,” said Miss Quant. “So for the last year I have been working on these
designs and have produced styles that go with today’s classical lines in fashion. I hope these glasses can be used by anybody wearing any of today’s styles in clothes.”
