TINWALD SALE
There was a very big yarding of sheep at Tinwald sale this week, and a large bench of buyers. All stock met a ready market, prices in most cases being above last week’s good rates. There was, however, a very small yarding of prime sheep and hoggets met a very buoyant sale with prices up by 50 cents to $1 on last week s rates. A range of prime sheep prices was: Best hoggets, $l3 to $14.40: medium. $ll to $l2; plain light. $9.50. Top lambs made to $10.75: medium. $8.60 to $9.50: plain light, $B. Heavy ewes. $8.60 to $9; medium ewes, $7.60 to $8.20; light ewes. $6.50 to $7.20.
STORE SHEEP There was a very laige yarding of store lambs and the quality was generally belter than the previous week. The top Romney wether lambs made up to $9.05, paid for a top line from Mayfield. Other prices were: Good Romneys, $7.50 to $8.20; plain and small, $5.30 to $6; best Down-cross, $7 to $7.55. Top price for Romney ewe lambs was $11.20, which was paid for an attractive line from Mount Somers. The best Romney ewe lambs made from $8.70 to $11.20. Border-Corriedale ewe lambs made up to $12.10 and a small pen of top Border.Romneys made $12.40.
There was some very attractive pens of Corriedale two-tooth ewes in this week’s market and they met a buoyant sale, top lines making Up to $16.50, and good mediums. $l4 to $l5 ADULT EWES There was a good yarding of adult ewes. A big proportion, however, were only one-year’s There was a good inquiry fot all classes. Annual draft halfbred ewes from the foothills area made $11.40. The best oneand two-year ewes made from $lO to $10.50 The best Romney one-year ewes made from $lO to $10.50. There was also a strong market for a number of pens of rape ewes which made from $6 i to $7.15.
