SUNDAY BAKING MEDIATION
Discussions over Sunday work for bakers in Christchurch will continue before a mediator today. If a solution is not found, it is likely that the matter will go to arbitration. Discussions began yesterday before Mr P. J. Crantson, of Auckland. It is possible that the baking tradesmen will seek further infor-
mation from the public, bread vendors, and dairy keepers about the “public interest”! aspect, which the employersi have said is a major consid-l eration in making bread on Sundays. If a solution by mediation seems unlikely this morning,; Mr Crantson will be asked to) assist in preparing the terms) of reference for arbitration. I
The union is represented at: mediation by Messrs G. H. i Anderson, the national advo-1 cate, and T. A. Waters, secretary of the Canterbury branch. The employers are represented by Messrs A. Jones, national advocate for the employers, and R. J. I Hicken, director of the Bread Bakers’ Employers' Union.
